Belgian pearl sugar is made from non-GMO beet sugar crystals that are compacted together with pressure and heat to form solid chunks, or “pearls”. This process gives the sugar a higher melting point and resistance to moisture during the baking of Gaufre Gourmet’s delicious Original Liège Sugar Waffles. Some of the sugar will caramelize on the outside of the waffle, some will stay crunchy on the inside, and some will melt into syrupy goodness for a wondrous taste and texture experience. You can add this sugar to other recipes as well, giving your cinnamon rolls, sticky buns, monkey bread, pancakes, muffins and sweets a unique and exciting twist!
