Liege Wafffle
A dense, chewy Belgian waffle created for the Prince of Liege in the 17th century. The dough is very eggy and buttery, much like a cinnamon roll dough. We knead in big chunks of pearl sugar before it goes into our hefty cast iron waffler. Some sugar caramelizes on the outside and some stays crunchy on the inside. You don't need butter or syrup for this one as it is super sweet and buttery all on its own.

We think everyone should enjoy a taste of our liege waffle so we give each person a gift of a taster waffle while you wait for your order, compliments of the house. Additional tasters are $1 each.

This is the light thick waffle we know in America as a "Belgian Waffle". Really there are several waffles from Belgium, each named after the city where they were first created. Our Brussels waffle is served with butter and real maple syrup and prepared gluten free.
Scrapple
This Pennsylvania treat is a 100 year old family recipe featuring ground pork combined with perfectly spiced polenta. It is formed into a loaf, then sliced and fried to order for a delicious breakfast meat dish.
Lardon
The fancy french name for the most delicious form of bacon ever! We cut thick chunks of slab bacon and then bake them in a spicy sweet maple glaze.

Our Story
The Gaufre Gourmet was born in Portland, Oregon on November 22, 2010 as a food cart specializing in liege style waffles. The next few years brought us many different opportunities including being featured on The Food Network, The Cooking Channel, as well as in several books highlighting food carts in Portland. GiGi's cafe opened in Hillsdale on November 22, 2014, exactly four years after our food cart was launched. Our awesome waffle menu has expanded to offer many brunch favorites as well as the new types of waffles we have been working on over the years. As always, we bring you the freshest ingredients hand crafted in our very own kitchen. Our eggs are cage free and we purchase organic, locally sourced products as often as we can. We hope you enjoy our food!
